this is mom and dad. they are here for a couple of weeks. this is a very good thing. of course i'm happy they're here because i love them very much. but there are several purely selfish reasons as well:

1. the world famous, top secret lasagne. notice the depth of the pan. the pure gluttony of meatsauce, pasta and cheese is sinful. if you have eaten this lasagne, you know. if you have not, you should be better connected to my family. my dad has not revealed the recipe since the day it was bestowed upon him by a dying man in the swiss alps. he was sworn to secrecy by old hans, and he has remained true. however, as the provisionary clause allowed, he passed the secret on to me a couple years ago. while it lacked the deathbed drama of the original recipe-passing, at the risk of sounding morbid i say "better safe than sorry."

2. GAME TIME! also, book time, snuggle time, tv time... basically, "go love grammy and grampy" time. instead of being outnumbered on the zone defense, skip and i can now go man to man WITH substitutions! it's the way parenting was intended to be done. you should never have more children than there are adults in your home. sometimes, however, this happens. this is why it's important to have grandparents.

3. ME time. US time. it can exist far more abundanlty when you have 24 hour access to caregivers. notice how happy we look. how NOT worn out we are.
we have two full weeks of grandparental bliss. my house will get cleaned more, my laundry will be washed faster, my furniture will likely be rearranged once or twice, and delicious meals will be cooked. if you do not have access to grandparents like these, i will consider hiring out my mom and dad. the terms are flexible. contact me to make arrangements. just not before my two weeks are up.

i'm green with envy. Hopefully, you and Steve are familiar with the "recipe clause" which clearly states the following: recipes sworn to secrecy can only be entrusted to posterity, the highest bidder, and/or one of the 4most faithful blog readers/posters of your posterity. also, never call your parents "units"
my dad said to tell you money talks.
apparently he doesn't understand that i fall under the 3rd classification, not the 2nd.
Andrea, most parents aren't that useful. I bet you are grateful.
Costco makes a perfectly good lasagna.
that looks yuuuummmy.
hi, S and C!
