cue the stevie wonder and dionne warwick

this is my kindred spirit lisa.she recently sent me her version of "os batos melhores de U dois". (we served a mission together for our church in portugal/cape verde, so we like to have fun with the portuguese language). anyway... basically, it's U2's greatest hits as she sees them. she loves U2 as much as i do, and i love U2 like you cannot imagine. i've seen them four times in concert, (once with lisa in SLC) which is not nearly enough. the last time, about 2 years ago, i went with my brother in boston. observe:

this is bono, asking the fans if i've arrived yet.

this was a special moment when bono told the audience that he'd like to dedicate "with or without you" to me, and then sang it with such tender emotion.

and here you'll find bono, scanning the crowd for me. it's so hard to talk to him with all those screaming fans.

anyway. needless to say, i've been OD'ing on the cd lisa sent me. it's so good, i figured i'd give her a big public OBRIGADA.

on a completely separate note, two of my other dearest friends just had babies. we were roommates in college (see embarassing picture a few posts down). now they have four and five children each. they do not blog (waaaa) but they read mine regularly (lucky for them), and occasionally post a comment. here they are a few months ago, very cute and pregnant.

anyway. as you can see from the before and after shots, we have all gotten better with time. yay. we survived early 90's hairdo's. but my point here is this: i am glad they had adorable, healthy little babies. a boy and a girl. (i see a future hook-up). people ask skip and i all the time if we are going to have a baby. we are not. we have five children between us already, all of whom have been through a lot in the past few years. so while i would love to have a child with my husband, the five we have require all of our love and attention. plus, we're too old. so i'll just live vicariously through my friends, and enjoy all the cute pictures of their babies that they will be sending me in their free time. so congrats, hdawg and mad dog t, on being mommies again. i have the greatest friends in the whole world.
*insert shrek the third-esque audio clip... "keep smilin, keep shinin, knowin you can always count on me... for sure... 'WHAT? just thought i might help set the mood...' "

Hey Andrea, I read your comment on my blog which lead me to your post and I read you served on Cape Verde. My brother may have served on Cape Verde the same time you were there, he was the branch pres. for a while. Anyway, his name is Andrew Wright.
To answer your questions, my sister in law lives in Lehi, UT.
I served my mission in eastern Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick).
I'm so glad to have found your blog.

can i just tell you how euphoric it feels to see a picture of me next to Bono in one screenshot like that? ooooo. sends a little tingle down my spine.

glad you liked os batos. i really enjoyed that little project...making mine and listening to yours. i've been on a U2 high for a good month now. it just goes to show that even though we may not have le freak in common, we are still bound by bono's beatific lyrics.

i'll be on your side forevermore.

I will email you a picture when I find one. He is attractive, but I'm not so sure he would have lots of people wanting to marry him, of course he is my brother.

Mmmm, I'm likin' Lisa- but that's her pictured above, right? With her "Man" I suppose? Broads like that always have a man.

Got an ugly friends who might look good if I squint, or drink a lot?
